The Romane Event's first show was in 2005. Since then I have had every major comedy star from the Bay Area perform in my show, many up-and-comers and a handful of bad ones. The Romane Event was orignally a variety show that included performers from all walks of life, including musicians, story-tellers, poets, filmmakers, and even Yo-Yo Champions.
For the first few months, every show featured live cartoon drawing by Lev, The Cartoonist, and the very talented Will Franken. By 2006, The Romane Event was still a variety show but was starting to feature more Stand Up comedians. The reason was simple. There are way more talented stand up comics to choose from and they consistently show up. You just never know what you're going to get with a "variety act". One guy even impaled himself on a bed of nails and had to be rushed to the hospital for stiches.
You can always see great up and coming talent and seasoned veterans telling great jokes and enjoying the amazing atmosphere, of the legendary, Make-Out Room. The Make-Out Room is in the Mission neighborhood of San Francisco which has lately been called a "comedy rennaisance".
"Much like Paco, the festival is a mash up of all things funny -- sketch, stand-up, improv, you name it. We're thrilled to include Paco's cool stand-up show, 'The Romane Event' in the festival this year for the first time, and to shed some light on Paco's stand-up, which is really strong." -Cole Stratton, Producer of SF Sketchfest
"7 years of success has kept Paco Romane at the top of the Bay Area comedy scene."- NBC Bay Area
"Paco Romane runs one finely tuned comedy show each month at the Make Out Room. As host of The Romane Event Comedy Show, Paco really knows how to warm up a room and create the proper, relaxed comedy atmosphere that comedians love to perform at and audience members love to laugh their you-know-what off at. In addition, it's backed by cool tunes from DJ Specific." - Citybest.com
